RIOS DA SERRA

Viva Rio supported the State Government of Rio de Janeiro in developing an awareness plan for areas impacted by a heavy storm that struck Rio’s mountainous region in January 2011, causing landslides, flooding and suffering. Since then Viva Rio has been on site in the affected cities of Petrópolis, Teresópolis and Nova Friburgo, promoting social improvement and environmental protection initiatives.

Viva Rio works as a link to involve residents, local leaders, retailers, schools and universities in the project. We also develop community and civil defense activities, lectures, events, courses and campaigns. Our goal is to help families to preserve the environment and reduce the risks caused by extreme weather events.
